Traffic stop leads to three arrests
for felony drug possession
Sheriff Scott Keeler reported deputies have made five warrant arrests during the first part of the week Feb. 13-17.
On Feb. 15, a traffic stop conducted by a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office deputy led to three individuals being taken into custody on felony drug charges.

Matthew Todd- On Feb. 16, Matthew Todd, 39, Deepwater, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him several felony drug charges. Todd is charged with a class C felony delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of class D felony possession of a controlled substance, and a class D misdemeanor of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $ 25,000 cash or surety.

Helen Gowin- On February 16, Helen Gowin, 57, Blairstown, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with class D felony possession of a controlled substance and class D misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $20,000 cash or surety.

Amy Hastings- On February 16, Amy Hastings, 43, Urich, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with class D felony possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $20,000 cash or surety.
During the investigation contact was made with the driver of the vehicle, Todd, and it was determined he had an active arrest warrant for a probation violation on an original class C felony charge of domestic assault-second degree from Henry County. During a search of the vehicle a spoon with residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine and several syringes were located. A prescription pill bottle was located with Todd's name on it. The pills inside were not what the prescription was for and were later identified as hydrocodone. Todd made admissions the items located in the vehicle belonged to him.
The front seat passenger, Gowin, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine. While handcuffed, she made admissions to having methamphetamine and paraphernalia hidden on her person. A female deputy located two bags containing a crystal substance, a glass pipe with residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine, and two bags containing marijuana on Gowin’s person.
Hastings, a passenger in the back seat, was also taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine. While handcuffed, she made admissions to having items hidden on her person. Jacob Rogers- On Feb. 14, Jacob Rogers, 29, Humansville, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for a probation violation on two class C felony counts of forgery. Bond is set at $2,500 cash or surety. The original charges stem from a Hickory County Sheriff’s Office investigation in July 2013 that revealed Rogers forged two checks in St. Clair County.
Nicholas Himmelberg- On Feb. 15, Nicholas Himmelberg, 34, Willard, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for failing to appear in court on original class A misdemeanor charge of violation of child protection order first offense. Bond is set at $3,500 cash only.

The warrant was issued on July 6, 2016 and stems from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation on Jan. 8, 2016 when Himmelberg contacted his 15 year old son by phone in violation of an active child order of protection.

Arrest warrant issued
Shane Stewart- Last week a St. Clair County no bond warrant was issued for Shane Stewart, 37, Lowry City, charging him with failing to abide by a judge’s order. Stewart is originally charged with class B felony distribution/ delivery/ manufacture/ produce a controlled substance, class C felony possession of a controlled substance, class C felony unlawful possession of a firearm, class D felony unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and class A misdemeanor unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

The charges stem from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation on Oct. 27, 2016 when a narcotics search warrant was executed at a camper located in Twin Oaks Harbor, Lowry City. During a search of the residence several items of contraband were located throughout the camper. Items included a crystalline substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, several new plastic bags, and digital scales.
