Sheriff Scott Keeler said deputies made eight warrant arrests, took reports of stealing, and burglary during the week of Dec. 5-12.

Shoplifter taken into custody

On Dec. 12, a St. Clair County deputy responded to a call of a shoplifter at Dollar General, Lowry City. A manager reported a female was seen placing a roll of trash bags in her purse and left the building without paying for the bags. A description of the suspect and vehicle was given to the deputies. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle on Highway 13 near B Highway, Osceola. Contact was made with a 59-year-old female who matched the description. Items were located and the female made admissions to taking the items without paying. The female was taken into custody and transported to the St. Clair County Jail. She was later released pending a formal charge.

Burglary reported on SE 101 Road

On Dec. 10, a St. Clair County deputy took a burglary report on SE 101 Road, Osceola. Norma and Lester Shifflett, the daughter and son-in-law of victim, John Norval, reported they arrived at the residence and found an individual loading items into a pickup truck.  It was noted the individual did not have permission to be on the property, enter buildings, or remove items.  After being advised, the individual unloaded the truck and left. Several items were reported missing included miscellaneous household items valued at over $500, but not more than $2,500. Later the same day, most of the items were recovered at a residence in El Dorado Springs. Formal charges are pending.

Chaps reported stolen in Appleton City

On Dec. 8, St. Clair County deputies responded to Appleton City Feed Store located at West Fourth Street, Appleton City, in reference to stealing. It was noted an employee had chaps stolen while he was working on Dec. 6. Video surveillance captured a suspect in the store stealing the chaps and placing them inside his pickup truck.
