St. Clair County Sheriff Scott Keeler said two teenage suspects are in custody and are being charged in reference to an armed robbery that occurred in the morning hours at Casey’s General Store, Appleton City, on April 1.

On April 12, Leroy Davis Jr., 17, Springfield, was arrested in Green County on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with class A felony robbery-first degree. The warrant was issued on April 10 and bond is set at $75,000 cash or surety. A male juvenile is also in custody and facing similar charges in juvenile court related to the same incident.
During the investigation it was learned two male subjects walked into the store and one pointed a handgun at the clerk and told the clerk to give him the money from the register. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
“Due to tips and information received from the public the suspects were tracked to the Springfield area,” said Sheriff Keeler.
The sheriff noted his appreciation for assistance from the Green County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation and arrests.
