St. Clair County Sheriff Scott Keeler said deputies have been busy during the first part of the week. Deputies have made five warrant arrests and have taken reports of burglary, stealing and property damage.
Burglary reported
at Buzz’s Grocery
On March 2, a St. Clair County deputy took a burglary report at Buzz’s Grocery, Collins. Donald Marquis reported the store was broken into and several rolls of coins were taken. Surveillance video recorded the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
Stealing on NE B Highway
On March 2, a St. Clair County deputy took a stealing report on NE B Highway, Osceola. Tony Dimaggio reported over the past two months he noticed items have been missing from various places on his property. Items include an antique brass Derringer 38 black powder pistol, a bronze bulldog nut cracker and a half- inch impact air wrench. Dimaggio also reported $30 in quarters missing from a piggy bank. A suspect was named and the investigation is ongoing.
Property damage reported
On March 2, a St. Clair County deputy took a property damage report on NE 401 Private Road, Osceola. James Chamberlain reported damage on property he watches over for and owned by John Cameron. Chamberlain said he went to check on the property and found where someone had cut donuts spinning in the gravel throwing rocks all over the front of one of the buildings. He noted four large windows were broke out. Damage was estimated at $1,500. The investigation is ongoing.
Investigation of letter found at Appleton City School
Sheriff Scott Keeler said St. Clair County deputies were dispatched to the Appleton City School on March 1, at approximately 11:15 a.m. in reference to a letter found in a restroom at the school. The letter raised concern due to the nature of its contents. Deputies and detectives conducted an investigation and were able to determine the letter was most likely written and posted on a prior date. Deputies remained at the school the rest of the day and the investigation is ongoing.
Stealing reported on SW 618 Road
On Feb. 29, a St. Clair County deputy took a stealing report on SW 618 Road, El Dorado Springs. Wendy Whitton reported several items missing from her residence. Items missing included a belt buckle with turquoise stones, a silver serving dish, a Dremmel tool, two pairs of snow shoes, a flip type cell phone, a silver letter opener, and a Sony walkman with speakers. The total value of the items was estimated at $1,668. A suspect was named and the investigation is ongoing.

Felony warrant arrests

Micky Kottwitz- On March 2, Micky Kottwitz, 40, Osceola, was arrested at the St. Clair County Courthouse on two outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions. Kottwitz was arrested on a Henry County warrant charging him with class C felony possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety. He was also arrested on a Boone County warrant for failing to appear in court on a class A misdemeanor charge of harassing communication from the Columbia Police Department. Bond on that charge is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Melissa Collins- On March 1, Melissa Collins, 33, Osceola, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with class C felony possession of a controlled substance and class A misdemeanor unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety. The charges stem from an incident on Feb. 19 when St. Clair County deputies arrested Collins on another felony warrant for possessing a controlled substance. During her arrest a plastic bag containing a white powder substance and a piece of tin foil containing a yellow rock substance were located in her possession. The items field tested positive for methamphetamine. Drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor amount of marijuana was also located.

Dorothy Taylor- On Feb. 29, Dorothy Taylor, 48, Springfield, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with class C felony possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety. The charge stems from an Osceola Police Department investigation in February 2015.
Misdemeanor warrant arrests

Michael Lindsey- On March 2, Michael Lindsey, 31, Deepwater, was arrested on a Clinton Police Department warrant for failing to appear in court on an ordinance violation. Bond is set at $250 cash only.

Michael Emerick- On Feb. 29, Michael Emerick, 40, Osceola, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with class A misdemeanor domestic assault-third degree. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. The charge stems from an incident the previous evening when St. Clair County deputies responded to a physical domestic call in progress on NE 309 Road, Osceola. The investigation revealed Emerick allegedly struck a family member above the left eye with a closed fist. He was taken into custody and transported to the St. Clair County Jail.
