St. Clair County Sheriff Scott Keeler said deputies made five warrant arrests and took reports of burglary, and property damage during the week of Jan. 18-25.

Two property damage reports

On Monday, Jan. 25, a St. Clair County deputy took a property damage report on SE 750 Road, Collins. Misti Kinner reported damage to her mailbox.

On Jan. 22, a St. Clair County deputy took a property damage report in Appleton City. Haydee Smith reported someone slashed her vehicle tire while it was parked in the driveway of her home on South Chestnut Street, Appleton City. The value of the tire was estimated at $86.

Burglary reported in Collins

On Jan. 22, a St. Clair County deputy took a burglary report at 54 Highway Storage, Collins. Matthew and Tara Dosier reported someone entered their storage unit without permission and stole items from it.  Items missing include: a television, a dresser, a quilt, 15 blankets, a Wii video game, a bow and arrow, a lawnmower, two Army bags with clothes, three Army boxes with log chains, tools, and two tool boxes. The total value of the items was estimated at $1,928.

Stolen vehicle recovered in Henry County

On Jan. 20, a vehicle that was reported stolen in St. Clair County earlier in the week was recovered in Henry County. Three days prior, a St. Clair County deputy took a report in reference to a 2006 Honda Accord stolen on NW 751 Road, Osceola. Heather Carpenter of Appleton City reported she was driving and her vehicle broke down. Carpenter said she left the vehicle and came back the next day and it was gone. The value of the vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

The vehicle was recovered after Henry County deputies responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies found the engine running and keys in the ignition. The investigation discovered an attempt was made to start a fire on the inside of the vehicle. Henry County deputies noted an item which appeared to be a pipe bomb-type device with a visible fuse was located inside the vehicle. Whiteman Air Force Base Ordinance Disposal Unit responded to the scene. The device was removed and detonated.

The investigations are ongoing. Sheriff Keeler stated those with any related information should contact the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line, 417-646-5832, or email to tips@scsomo.org
