On Jan. 8, Jerry Nichols, 33, El Dorado Springs, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with two counts of burglary-second degree.  Bond is set at $25,000 cash or surety. The charge stems from an incident the day before when St. Clair County deputies responded to a call that former St. Clair County Sheriff Ron Snodgrass and Curtis Hunter located a Chevrolet truck that was stolen out of El Dorado. The truck was located at a residence on SW 651 Road, El Dorado Springs. It was noted the suspect in the case was on scene attempting to break into a house. The suspect was detained by Snodgrass and Hunter. Upon arrival Nichols was taken into custody and several items that were later reported stolen were located in the truck he was driving.

The investigation revealed the truck was stolen in the early morning hours on Jan. 7 from Derek Miner at Dari Concepts, El Dorado Springs. It was discovered Nichols later made entry into an occupied home on SW 600, but was ran off by the owner.

Later the same day a St. Clair County deputy took a burglary report on SW 1001 Rd, El Dorado Springs. Victor Stone said someone broke into his residence and took a television, boots, clothes, a level, and compact discs. He said an air compressor was also missing from a shed on the property.

Another report was taken on SW 1001 Road, El Dorado Springs. Joe Norval reported a rear window was broken out of his truck that was parked in a detached garage. He noted a knife and sheath were missing from the truck. Other items reported missing included two gas cans, trailer plug adapter, crow bar, and a yellow cattle prod.

All the items reported stolen were recovered from the stolen truck and returned to the owners. The investigation is continuing and other formal charges are expected.

Burglary report on NE 137 Road

On Jan. 4, St. Clair County deputies took a burglary report on NE 1387 Road, Deepwater. Charles Hartman reported his residence was broken into and inside were missing. Items stolen included two propane heaters, a television, a toaster oven, a mounted and stuffed raccoon, and a fox pelt.

Fraud report taken

On Jan. 4, a St. Clair County deputy took a report from Walter Tucker in reference to fraud. Tucker reported $900 in checks were cashed from his account without his authorization. He advised the style of checks did not match those from his account.

Hay reported stolen

On Jan. 4, a St. Clair County deputy took a stealing report on Fred Radtke in reference to hay stolen from a barn on SW 101 Road, Roscoe. Radtke reported two large bales of hay missing from the barn.

The investigations are ongoing. Sheriff Keeler stated those with any related information should contact the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line, 417-646-5832, or email to tips@scsomo.org
