Arrest warrant issued for Clemons

Sheriff Scott Keeler stated on Oct. 8, a St. Clair County warrant was issued for Kory Clemons, 20, Rockville, charging him with class C felony stealing a motor vehicle and stealing of a firearm. Bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.

The charges stem from an incident on Oct. 6, when a St. Clair County deputy took a report on SW 76 Road in reference to a stolen vehicle and firearm. David Oehring stated Clemons, a guest at his residence, stole a 1992 blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck from his driveway and a .22 caliber semi-auto rifle from a closet in the residence.

Additional charges are pending on Clemons stemming from an incident early the next morning. On Oct. 7, at 1:13 a.m. St. Clair County deputies were dispatched to the Appleton City area in reference to a sighting of the stolen vehicle. Corporal Jason Matter located the vehicle traveling on Highway 52 in Appleton City. The vehicle stopped in the parking lot of the Appleton City School and Deputy Dale Roberts arrived on scene. The deputies ordered Clemons out of the vehicle. Clemons brandished a firearm and deputies ordered him to drop the firearm several times. Clemons refused, raised the firearm and fired at deputies. The deputies returned fire, striking him multiple times.

The deputies were not injured in the incident and are on paid administrative leave. Clemons was transported to a Kansas City hospital. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control were called into to conduct an independent investigation on the incident.
