The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office will host a free prescription drug take back event on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sheriff Scott Keeler explained the event will allow the public to dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired medications.
Participants can bring prescription medications, pills, or tablets in original plastic containers to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, 360 Chestnut Street, Osceola, Mo. Participants are urged to remove personal information from prescription labels. Items that will not be accepted include liquids, needles or sharps, only pills or patches.
“This service is an opportunity; put on by the sheriff’s office, to help prevent pill abuse, theft, as well as ensuring the prescription drugs are disposed of properly,” said Sheriff Keeler.
Though this is a scheduled event, the sheriff’s office will accept unwanted, unused, or expired medications for disposal throughout the year.
