St. Clair County Sheriff Scott Keeler said deputies responded to several calls for service during the week of July 13-20. Four individuals were arrested and deputies took reports of shoplifting, property damage, and stolen checks.
Shoplifting report at Pilot
On July 19, a St. Clair County deputy took a report of shoplifting at Pilot Travel Center, Collins. Shift Manager Leslie Edwards reported a male individual purchased some items and as he was leaving the store, took two beef sticks off of the shelf without paying for them. Edwards stated she confronted him in the parking lot and told him to return the items. The male subject denied stealing and sped off in a truck. A suspect was named. Footage from surveillance cameras was reviewed and a request for prosecution was signed. The investigation is ongoing.
Property damage on Boy Scout Camp Road
On July 18, a St. Clair County deputy took a report of property damage on Boy Scout Camp Road. Jeffrey Beachner stated he drove by and noticed a vinyl sign for his business was damaged. He said he frequently checks on it due to damage that has occurred in the past. Beachner noted it appears as if an oil based liquid was thrown on the sign and an attempt was made to light it on fire. The deputy observed a burn mark on the sign and a small pile of burnt leaves at the base of it. The loss was estimated at $100. The investigation is ongoing.
Checks reported stolen
On July 18, a St. Clair County deputy took a report from Myron Horn III in reference to checks stolen from his vehicle. Horn reported an unauthorized check totaling $400 was written from his account to the Tobacco Shack in Nevada. He said he did not make the purchase and does not know who did. Horn said he is missing two checks from a book he keeps in his vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
Osceola man arrested on felony drug charge

On July 17, Leland Daggett, 59, Osceola, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class B felony of manufacturing a controlled substance. The charge stems from an incident on July 16 when St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office deputies, members of the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force, and the Morgan County SWAT Team conducted a search warrant at his residence on SE 401 Road, Osceola. During the investigation digital scales and a plastic bag containing a white substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine was discovered in a garden on the property. Bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.
Report of cattle damaging property
On July 13, a St. Clair County deputy took a report from Gary Young in reference to a neighbor’s cattle getting out and roaming on his property off of Highway ZZ. He said the cattle are getting out in different locations and have damaged a 1000 acre clover/fescue field. Young took a photo on July 12 of approximately 50 head of cattle roaming his property and eating the clover and fescue. He noted he has no cattle on the property. A suspect was named and the investigation is ongoing.

Robert Wilson- On July 17, Robert Wilson, 36, Osceola, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class C felony of forgery. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety. The warrant was issued on July 13 and stems from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation that started in January regarding a check being written on Charlotte White’s account and signed without her permission.

Amanda Smith- On July 17, Amanda Smith, 25, Montrose, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with misdemeanor failing to display plates. The charge stems from an incident with the Missouri State Highway Patrol on July 29, 2009. In October 2009, a warrant was issued for failing to appear in court. Bond is set at $129 cash only.

Rory Horne- On July 15, Rory Horne, 47, Buffalo, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class D felony of non-support-total arrears in excess of 12 monthly payments due under order of support. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety. The warrant was issued on June 4 and stems from an incident on Aug. 28, 2009.
