Search warrant results in felony drug charge

Shannon Knowles

On April 24, Shannon Knowles, 44, Appleton City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class C felony of possessing a controlled substance. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.

The warrant was issued on April 20 and stems from an incident on April 15 when St. Clair County deputies, members of the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdictional Drug Task Force, and the Miller County SWAT Team served a search warrant at her residence on Miller Street, Appleton City. During the investigation, a small plastic bag containing a white substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine was located in a bedroom. Knowles allegedly admitted the methamphetamine was hers and stated it had been there for three years.

The third warrant was issued on April 13 and charges Groves with class D felony of resisting arrest/detention/stop by fleeing-creating a substantial risk of serious injury/death to any person. It also charges Groves with four misdemeanor charges including speeding, operating a vehicle without a license, no insurance, driving a vehicle to the left side of the roadway when view is obstructed by a hill or curve, and two infractions of failing to display plates on a motor vehicle and no seat belt.

The charges stem from an incident on Feb. 10 with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Total bond is set at $20,000 cash only and $5,000 cash or surety.
