St. Clair County deputies responded to a variety of calls for service during the week of December 29, 2014- Jan. 3, 2015. Sheriff Scott Keeler said deputies made several arrests and took reports of stealing and burglary.
Felony drug arrest made

On Jan. 2 Ryan Keith, 42, Clinton, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class C felony of possessing a controlled substance. The charge stems from an investigation on Dec. 28 by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force. Keith was found to be in possession of methamphetamine after a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle he was driving.
Burglary investigation
On Dec. 30, a St. Clair County deputy took a burglary report at Sharon Wheeler’s residence on NE 50 Road. Steve Wheeler met with a deputy and explained Sharon Wheeler was out of town and a worker noticed a door to her residence had been kicked in. The deputy noticed the entire house was vandalized. Furniture was turned upside down and most drawers had been emptied onto the floor. Several broken items were also located. The investigation is ongoing.
Stolen checks reported
On Dec. 29, a St. Clair County deputy took a report from Haven Vassey, Collins, in reference to stolen checks. Vassey stated he noticed money missing from his checking account. He said he checked with his bank and discovered five unauthorized checks totaling $500 had cleared his account. Vassey stated he also found seven additional checks from various checkbooks missing. He noted these checks have not cleared the bank. A suspect was named and the investigation is ongoing.

On Jan. 3, Richard Gray, 52, Granby, was arrested at the St. Clair County Jail on a Cedar County warrant for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of driving while under the influence. Bond is set at $500 cash only.
 Joseph Brown |
On Jan. 2, Joseph Brown, 29, Bolivar, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, second offense. The charge stems from an incident in July with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The warrant was issued on Dec. 30. Bond is set at $220 cash only.

On Jan 2, Darren Guthridge, 26, Bolivar, was arrested in St. Clair County on a Polk County warrant for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of failing to drive on the right half of roadway. Bond is seat at $150 cash only.
 Brent Thomas |
On Dec. 30, Brent Thomas, 41, Lowry City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with class C felony of possessing a controlled substance. The warrant was issued on Dec. 29. The charge stems from an incident on Oct. 3 when a search warrant was served at Thomas’ residence on North Lucas Street, Lowry City, in reference to stolen property out of Hickory County. During the investigation a chain saw, pole saw, leaf blower, a back pack leaf blower, and weed eater were located and turned over to Hickory County deputies. Methamphetamine and several items of paraphernalia were also located in the residence. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

On Dec. 30, David Michaels, 56, Lowry City, was arrested on a St. Clair County and a Stone County warrant for failing to appear in court on misdemeanor charges of passing bad checks. The St. Clair County warrant was issued on Oct. 21 and stems from an incident on July 14. The Stone County warrant was issued on Dec. 10 and stems from an incident on Feb. 3. Total bond is set at $303.28 cash only.

On Dec. 30, Charles Shipman, 43, Cape Girardeau, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of non support. The warrant was issued in June 2009. Shipman is also being held on warrants from Scott County and New Madrid County. Total bond is set at $4,000 cash only.

On Dec. 30, John Howery, 42, Appleton City, was arrested on three warrants from Jackson County. Two warrants were for failing to appear in court on misdemeanor traffic offenses and one was a felony probation violation warrant. Total bond is set at $ 11,313 cash only.
Arrest warrant
recalled/withdrawn by court
On Jan. 5, an arrest warrant for Ronald Park, 57, Osceola, was recalled/withdrawn by the court. The warrant was originally issued on Dec. 30 for failing to appear in court for sentencing on two felony drug charges.
A jury found Park guilty of a class B felony of distribution, delivery, manufacture or production of a controlled substance or attempt to or possess with intent to and a class C felony of possessing a controlled substance. Sentencing has been rescheduled for later in the day on Jan. 5.
The charges stem from an incident on July 24, 2013 when an investigation by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force led to service of a search warrant at Park’s residence on SW 50 Road, Osceola. Methamphetamine and marijuana were located and seized. Upon further investigation, Marijuana was also located growing on property owned by Park.
