Tip from a post on Facebook leads to arrests

Tip from a post on Facebook leads to arrests

On Tuesday, Feb. 4, after a tip was received from a post on the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Tiffany Walker, 28, Appleton City, was arrested in connection to crimes committed in Appleton City. On Wednesday, Feb. 5, Walker was formally charged with two class C felonies, second degree burglary and possession of controlled substance. The total bond on the charges is set at $20,000 cash or surety.

The charges stem from an incident on Sunday, Feb. 2, when a deputy was dispatched to the Linda Buckley residence on South Beech Street, Appleton City, in reference to a theft. Buckley reported two bottles of prescription drugs were missing from her purse. Buckley said the bottles contained a month’s supply of Oxycontin and Xanax. A bank card and some cash were also reported missing.

The same day, another deputy responded to Brittany Turner’s residence on East Third Street, Appleton City, in reference to a burglary. Turner advised she received a phone call stating a female was seen in her shed going through items and stacking them by the door. Turner stated when she arrived at her the residence the female was gone and the shed doors were open.

A pile of Turner’s items from the shed was located by the door along with a bag full of clothes and other items that did not belong to her. A prescription for Oxycontin with Buckley’s name on it was located inside the bag. The bag also contained an eyeglass case with credit cards and insurance cards belonging to Buckley. Other items found included several DVDs and a cell phone. The investigation revealed the cell phone belonged to Lyle Roland, West Third Street.

Contact was made with Roland who stated he returned from the store and found a female in his house. Roland gave a description of the female and said when she left he could not find his phone to call the police. Lyle identified the cell phone and several of the DVDs found as what he was missing from his residence.

The investigation also led to the arrest of John Pliler, 27, Joplin, on two outstanding felony warrants from other counties. On Feb. 4, Pliler was arrested on a probation violation warrant from Jackson County with no bond and a warrant for driving while revoked from Henry County with a bond set at $4,500 cash or surety.
