St. Clair County Sheriff's Office News Release for June 9-16, 2014

St. Clair County Sheriff Scott Keeler said deputies made an arrest in a theft/stealing case and took reports of property damage, stolen medication, and trespassing during the week of June 9-16.

Arrest made in theft/stealing case in Collins

William Dane

On Saturday, June 14, William Dane, 44, Flemington, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class C felony of theft/stealing-value is $500 or more but less than $25,000. The charge stems from an investigation that started on June 13 when a St. Clair County deputy was on routine patrol near Collins. The deputy observed a stranded motorist pulled in a driveway alongside Highway 54, across the road from Mike's Wrecker Service. The deputy stopped to assist and two people were identified. The registration information from the vehicle was obtained and the deputy cleared the scene and continued patrolling. A follow up investigation by the deputy revealed evidence a stealing had occurred.

The investigation led to the recovery of several radiators and batteries at Dane’s residence in Polk County. Mike Garlett Sr. from Mike’s Wreaker Service was contacted and identified the property. The value of the items was estimated at $5,705.

On June 13, an arrest warrant was also issued for Brandon Burton, 30, Weaubleau, for his alleged involvement in the case. Burton is charged with a class C felony of theft/stealing. He has not been arrested at this time.

Other reports under investigation

On June 15, a St. Clair County deputy responded to East Rogers Street, Lowry City, in reference to property damage. Lester Quick reported a window and siding of his rental house were damaged. He said juveniles were walking through his yard with either air soft pistols or BB guns in their possession and he believes they are responsible. A request for prosecution was signed. Quick estimated the cost to replace the window between $150-$200. Damage to the siding was estimated at $100.

On June 11, a St. Clair County deputy took a report on NE 450 Road from George Harper regarding blood pressure medication allegedly stolen.

On June 9, a St. Clair County deputy took a complaint from Lamont Seals regarding someone trespassing and fishing in his pond on NE 1030 Road.

Osceola woman arrested on drug charge

Christine Mallett

On June 6, Christine Mallett, 47, Osceola, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant for a class C felony of possessing a controlled substance. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety. The charge stems from an investigation in Gerster on June 5 when St. Clair County deputies and officers from the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force discovered Mallett to be in possession of methamphetamine at her home on SE 1141 Road.
