The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office currently has open full and part-time positions as Jail Detention Officers. Jailers play a very important part in maintaining the financial well-being of our county and fulfill a vital part in the overall justice system.
Duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining the safety and security of the facility, inmates, employees, and the public; interacting with inmates (never alone); booking and releasing inmates; preparing inmates for transport to court and medical appointments; cleaning of the facility, inmate laundry and other daily tasks. Previous experience is preferred but not required. Training is provided. Starting pay: $15.11, raises at 6, 12, & 18 months to $17.06 Holiday, Vacation, Sick and other types of special leave Health, Vision, Dental, Retirement plans Requirements:
- 21 years of age or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- No Felony convictions or violent misdemeanors.
- A valid driver's license.
- Reliable transportation.
- A good work ethic and strong moral compass.
- Good verbal and written communications.
- A willingness to learn the job and the importance of the job in respect to the safety and security of inmates, employees and the public.
- Be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Be able to multitask, be attentive to details, and are familiar with computer usage.
- Be physically able to perform the duties of the job.
