Additional Information

The arrest comes after Wait walked to a residence and started to beat on the door and then refused to leave after being told to do so by the homeowner. The homeowner called the disturbance into the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy arrived on scene and made contact with Wait. Wait stumbled off the porch towards the deputy and stated that he was in a wreck and wanted to call for a ride. The deputy explained to Wait that he could give him a ride back to the accident scene to investigate, but would have to search him for weapons before he could get into the patrol vehicle. Wait agreed. During the search of his person, a loaded pistol was found in the pocket of his jacket. A record check revealed that Wait was disqualified from owing or possessing a firearm from a previous felony conviction.
After further investigation, Wait admitted to burglarizing a residence on NE U Highway.
